Abram Wilson Quartet Plays Free Concert @ Southbank Centre on Friday!

Join us Friday afternoon at Southbank Centre as we celebrate the life of Harlem born mixed raced pianist, Philippa Schuyler. The performance by the quartet at 5:30pm will be preceded by a New Orleans processional and presentation by Kids Company and myself along with the Londorleans Brass Band at 4:40pm. The entrire performance is free so bring all your friends and family to this special tribute.

Unedited Limited Edition CDs will be available on the day!

TWO DAYS OF REHEARSALS FOR THE ABRAM WILSON QUARTET

The last two days the Abram Wilson Quartet has been rehearsing hard.  In case you've missed it, the Quartet is now officially me on trumpet and vocals, Alex Davis on bass, Dave Hamblett on drums and Reuben James on piano. 

We've got some great gigs lined up, check out the calendar for more details, but here's a quick snapshot:

4th & 5th November - Birmingham Symphony Hall for a gig AND a workshop (with Matt Fisher replacing Dave on drums)

18th November - Harrow Arts Centre as part of the London Jazz Festival

23rd November - Recording for the Jamie Cullum Radio Show!!! Should be aired 6th December

17th December - Kings Place with Jason Marsalis and Myrna Hague

18th December - Turner Sims with Jason Marsalis and Myrna Hague

Yes we are getting ready for Christmas already as we rehearse for a A New Orleans Style Christmas Story which features my quartet with drummer and good friend from New Orleans, Jason Marsalis (Wynton's youngest brother), and jazz vocalist, Myrna Hague. Abram Wilson Starts Rehearsing for London Jazz Festival 2011

I just finished a rehearsal for our London Jazz Festival Performance this year at Harrow Arts Centre on November 18th with Reuben James - piano, Alex Davis bass and Dave Hamblett - drums. Kings Place presents Abram Wilson on May 21st with New Unedited Limited Recording!

Just finished recording new music for Life Paintings and Singing Pictures for our Kings Place performance on May 21st. The music sounds really exiting!  Singing Pictures features Reuben James on piano, Alex Davis on bass and Dave Hamblett on drums, along with the art work of Sheila Maurice-Grey.  Life Paintings features stunning photographs by Ben Amure. ABRAM @ QUEEN ELIZABETH HALL ON MAY 8th

We just finished another rehearsal for my upcoming performace at Queen Elizabeth Hall on May 8th. I'm very excited as I am opening for the new young vocalists, Nikki Yanofsky. I'll be bringing two new young musicians with me - Reuban James on piano from Birmingham, England and Alex Davis on double bass from Leeds, England. I will be performing material from both Jazz Warrior, Ride!, and Life Paintings as well as some brand new material!
